Built for general contractors
Job Cost Tracking Software for General Contractors
Manage costs across multiple active job sites — labor, subs, and materials — and see your margin on every project.
Sound familiar?
Sub invoices come in late and out of order
Your framer submits an invoice three weeks after the work. Your electrician changes scope mid-job. By the time you reconcile, the project is already over budget.
You're managing 4 job sites from one brain
Three active projects, ten subcontractors, and a crew of eight — keeping track of who is where and what each job is costing is a full-time job on its own.
Your invoices don't reflect the real job cost
When invoicing is separate from cost tracking, overbilling and underbilling are both common. Clients dispute line items you can't quickly back up.
How Punch Ledger helps general contractors
Purpose-built for project-based contractors — not adapted from generic accounting software.
Real-time P&L across all active projects
Every sub invoice, material receipt, and labor hour hits the right project's P&L the moment it's entered. See all your jobs on one dashboard.
Subcontractor cost tracking
Record sub invoices as project expenses in the subcontractor category. See exactly how much each sub has billed against your allowance.
Crew scheduling across multiple sites
Assign your self-perform crew to specific job sites each day. Labor costs allocate to the right project — payroll and job costing stay in sync.
Invoices and quotes built from project data
Draw line items from your recorded costs. Send AIA-style progress invoices or lump-sum invoices from the same system you track costs in.
Common questions
How many active projects can I track at once?
Unlimited projects on all paid plans. Many GCs run 5–15 active projects simultaneously in Punch Ledger.
Can I track change orders?
Change order costs can be recorded as additional project expenses. You can also update the project budget when an approved change order increases the contract value.
How do I handle subcontractors who bill on completion vs. weekly?
Record sub invoices whenever they arrive — there's no requirement to match a billing schedule. Each invoice is timestamped and allocated to the project.
Can my project manager use Punch Ledger from the field?
Yes. You can add team members as editors, and they can log expenses, schedule crew, and view project dashboards from any device.
Does Punch Ledger integrate with QuickBooks?
Punch Ledger doesn't sync directly with QuickBooks, but you can export expense, payroll, and invoice reports in formats your accountant can import. Many GCs use Punch Ledger for field-level job costing and hand off exports to their accountant.
